Guihulngan City Filomeno Reyes and PCIC Regional Office 7 Manager Paulita Secuya signed on March 22, 2024 a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the insurance coverage of the city’s farmers and fisherfolk. Under the MOA, the local government will allocate ₱2 Million as payment of premiums for PCIC agriculture insurance products for the city’s farmers and fishers. “Hindi natin ma-predict ang panahon na may mga problema lalo na ngayon na paparating ang mainit na panahon. Maapektuhan ang mga pananim at hayop. Kaya nakita natin na kailangan ng pondo sa lungsod ng Guihulngan, katambal ng national [government]. Malaki ang maitutulong nito,” Mayor Reyes said.
In response, Secuya thanked local executives for their support to farmers, fishers, and the PCIC. She also stressed PCIC’s commitment to serve its clients.
The signing was held at the SB Session Hall in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental. Present were the City Council Chair for agriculture Melbourne Bustamante, City Veterinarian Dr. Niño Perez, City Agriculturist Joel Cadiz, RO7 Claims Adjustment Chief Josefina Bojeador, Marketing and Sales Head Maria Carisa Adriatico and PCIC Extension Office-Negros Oriental Team Head Junriel Aba.
