Regional Office 6 handed out over ₱6.4 Million worth of indemnity checks to more than 1,500 farmer-beneficiaries on February 6, 2025 at the Passi Arena, Passi City, Iloilo. Indemnity was given after farmers suffered losses due to natural calamities and pest infestation. Most of the beneficiaries were rice and corn farmers.

Marketing and Sales Chief Jose Ma. Torres Jr. spearheaded the mass payment.

“We want to give you, our farmers, the support that you need as you play your vital part in putting food on every Filipino family’s table,” Mr. Torres stated. ”PCIC is your dependable partner.”

In response, farmers said they felt relieved as the indemnity they received could be used in replanting their crops.

“Madamo gid nga sa salamat sa PCIC. May magamit na ako sa pag-umpisa sang akon pagpanguma, (“Many thanks to PCIC. I now have money to use to support my farming.”)“, Ana P. Pabilona, one of the beneficiaries, said.

Also present during the activity were Passi City Mayor Atty. Stephen Palmares, Vice Mayor Elyzer Chavez, and Sangguniang Bayan member and chairperson on Committee on Agriculture Paul Gerard Panes who highlighted local government support for the programs of PCIC in his message.
