It is important for different agencies to cooperate and coordinate in the implementation of Republic Act no. 11321 or the Sagip Saka Act, and the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation is always ready to offer its insurance products and services to the Farmers and Fisherfolk Enterprise-Development Program.
This was the message of RO 6 Manager Eva Ulie Laud, in a workshop for agencies implementing the Sagip Saka Act. The workshop on Farmer and Fisherfolk Enterprise Development Program for the Visayas Cluster was held in Malay, Aklan, on April 11, 2025.
The Sagip Saka Act mandates government to promote farmer and fisherfolk empowerment through enterprise development, market linkage, and institutional support—anchoring food security and rural economic growth in inclusive, people-centered approaches.
“PCIC will continue to extend its assistance in the implementation of the Sagip Saka Act and hopefully, reach more beneficiaries under the Farmers and Fisherfolk Enterprise Development Information System, with the assistance of different agencies such as the Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA),” Laud said in her presentation.
Laud outlined the PCIC’s ongoing efforts to protect farmers through different insurance programs including the RSBSA program where subsistence farmers and fisherfolk get free insurance.
