President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has reappointed Atty. JB Jovy C. Bernabe as acting President and CEO of the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) earlier this month.

The Department of Finance welcomed the appointment of Bernabe.  Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno administered his oath of office. PCIC is an attached corporation of the Department of Finance.

“We thank the President for his trust in our leadership of the PCIC,” Bernabe said. “Thank you Sec. Diokno for the trust and confidence. We commit to pursue vigorously our roadmap for the further improvement of PCIC and our crop insurance programs and the further expansion of our coverage to benefit as many farmers as we can. We will continue to find ways to improve our programs to give the most value for money to our government and our farmers. We shall further pursue the digitalization of our operations and utilize available technologies to enhance our products and streamline our processes and services.”

Bernabe has steered the PCIC from being a moribund corporation to a dynamic one that has played a critical role in the food security and poverty alleviation thrusts of the government. PCIC has provided and continues to provide millions of farmers and fisherfolk with agriculture insurance protection for losses caused by natural calamities and pests and diseases.  PCIC has been cited as one of the top government corporations in corporate governance for six consecutive years until 2021 by the Governance Commission for GOCCs.
