PCIC’s Regional Office 5 recently distributed indemnity checks to farmers in Camarines Sur, whose crops were damaged by typhoon Usman.
Farmers in the municipalities of Baao, Gainza and Nabua, in particular, received indemnity checks from PCIC Region 5 OIC-Manager Frankie Armeña, and OIC-Chief of Claims and Adjustment Division Felix Manlangit on January 15, 2019.
A total of ₱570,622 worth of checks were handed out. Twenty-six (26) farmers from Gainza got a total of ₱341,011, 13 from Nabua received ₱213,689, and a claimant from Baao was given ₱15,922.
Mr. Armeña said that several check distributions will be held, as the PCIC aims to give out claims indemnity checks to claimants within 20 days.
For their part, the farmers thanked the Corporation for the immediate release of their checks and for the free crop insurance they availed through the Agricultural Insurance for Farmers and Fisherfolk Listed in Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) and the Special Agricultural Insurance Programs.
They said they will continue to avail of the insurance products being offered by the PCIC as these have helped them in recouping their investments after being hit by a typhoon and other natural disasters.
