In line with PCIC’s corporate social responsibility advocacy, PCIC Region V conducted a mangrove tree planting project at the marshland of Igang, Bacacay, Albay last September 21, 2012. The PCIC team was able to plant 750 mangrove seedlings, in coordination with Ms. Aleth Agripa of the DENR Albay Provincial Office and the local government of Barangay Igang thru its pointman, Mr. Rolando Bañadera.

The barangay folks thru Mr. Bañadera were tapped as monitoring officers who shall report to PCIC any incident and problems that may arise. When the trees are fully grown, an artificial reef shall be installed in the adjoining area of the mangrove plantation by using old tires to be solicited from other government agencies and private companies. This shall serve as a protection and sanctuary of marine life in that area.
