The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation is ready to insure more qualified farmers, especially now that the country is experiencing the El Niño phenomenon.

The PCIC management assured this during the Mid-year Performance Review and Planning Conference held from July 10 to 12, 2023 in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.

”We remain ready to support the programs of the DA and the LGUs in helping the farmers cope with the effects of the El Niño,” PCIC President Jovy Bernabe said. “We will prioritize the enrollment of farmers in areas that are vulnerable to the dry spell.”

Bernabe urged the regional managers to strengthen PCIC’s partnerships with the LGUs and to aggressively conduct information campaign among the farmers about its products and services. They must also ensure that insurance applications and claims payments are processed and released faster.
