PCIC on Wheels Successfully Held in Provinces in Region 2

The PCIC increased awareness on and made the Corporation’s products and services more accessible to farmers and fisherfolk in Region 2, through its information caravan held in May 2018.

Dubbed “PCIC on Wheels,” the caravan went to the provinces of the Cagayan Valley and the eastern section of the Cordillera Administrative Region.

“PCIC wanted to replicate the success of the caravan achieved last January 2018,” PCIC President Jovy Bernabe said. “By bringing our products and services closer, we want more farmers and fisherfolk to avail of agricultural insurance —rice, corn, fisheries, livestock, high value crops, non-crop agricultural asset, and credit & life term insurance programs.”

The caravan contributed to the increase in the number of farmers in Region 2 availing of the insurance programs. The regional office was able to insure more than 103,000 farmers and fisherfolk under the different PCIC insurance programs as of June 2018, exceeding its performance for the same period last year by 142% and hitting almost 60% of the target enrollees for the year.

“We expect more farmers and fisherfolk to avail of PCIC’s products, as we continue holding information caravans for the rest of 2018,” Regional Manager Edna Marallag said.

PCIC Region 2 Marketing Services Division (MSD) Chief Jean Bayani led the activity together with the MSD staff. Ample support was also extended by local government units through the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist, Department of Agrarian Reform through Municipal Agrarian Reform offices, agrarian reform beneficiary organizations, and barangay officials.
