PCIC is Committed in Offering Life and Accident Insurance to Farmers
The agriculture sector can count on the PCIC to continue providing protection not just for agricultural produce, but for insurance of life and limbs of farmers and fisherfolk as well.
This was emphasized by PCIC President Atty. Jovy C. Bernabe in his speech at the 20th Anniversary of Butil Farmers Party, held recently in Talavera City, Nueva Ecija.
Atty. Bernabe cited the Accident and Dismemberment Security Scheme (ADSS) for farmers. The ADSS is an insurance protection for agricultural producers, fisherfolk and other stakeholders that covers death or dismemberment or disablement of the insured due to accident. Moreover, farmers can also avail of the very affordable insurance protection that covers death of the insured due to accident and natural causes under the Agricultural Producers Protection Plan. Both insurance products provide a coverage of P50,000.00 per farmer.
Atty. Bernabe also informed the farmers that as its main mandate, PCIC is implementing free agricultural insurance programs for all subsistence farmers and fisherfolk in the country. He said that PCIC continues to make crop insurance more accessible to farmers and fisherfolk. For one, farmers can enroll in any of the insurance lines thru technicians of the LGUs. The Corporation has also put up additional provincial extension offices (PEOs). Farmers can inquire and avail of the Corporation’s services by visiting these PEOs, Regional Offices, LGUs and service desks. PCIC also frequently holds information caravans that orient farmers about agricultural insurance, products and services.
PCIC enjoyed a banner year in 2017, with almost 1.7 million individuals availing of insurance products and total amount of insurance coverage reaching more than P58.5 Billion.
