PCIC Region XI distributed indemnity checks worth Php 7.5 Million to Sumitomo Fruits (SUMIFRU) Banana Farmers as partial payment for damages caused by Tropical Depression Agaton. The event coincided with the dialogue between DA Secretary Proceso J. Alcala and Banana Industry Stakeholders in Nabunturan, Compostela Valley on March 6, 2014. Present during the indemnity distribution were DA Usec. Dante Delima, Gov. Arturo T. Uy, Vice Gov. Manuel “Way Kurat” Zamora, Mayor Lema Bolo, DA-RED XI Remlyn Recoter, LBP Head Charlotte Conde, SUMIFRU Employees, and PCIC XI Regional Manager Bonifacio V. Pales.

DA Secretary Alcala commended the fast action of PCIC in claims processing and settlement.
