The PCIC Board of Directors member representing the subsistence farmers has conducted a farmers’ fora and let indemnity check distribution in Region V.
Director Gina C. Terencio, a medical doctor and a farmer, conducted a dialogue with farmers who are beneficiary-recipients of PCIC’s agricultural insurance program and led in the distribution of indemnity checks worth P0.690 million. The recipients were 190 farmers whose crops were damaged by plant pests and diseases, and volcanic eruption caused by the recent explosion of Mt. Bulusan in Sorsogon.
“Ako po ay nagagalak na makaharap kayo ngayon alinsunod sa utos ng ating DOF Chairman upang malaman ang mga bagay na pwede pa nating gawin upang lalong mapahusay at mapalawak ang crop insurance program, ” Dir. Terencio told the farmers in two (2) separate venues from Ligao City, Albay and Casiguran, Sorsogon on June 29, 2022.
She likewise stressed the importance of crop insurance which must be availed of by the farmers and fisherfolk in the countryside, especially the free insurance premium offered by the government thru the RSBSA, Agri-Agra, and other premium subsidies. She thanked the attendees for actively participating in the program.
Director Terencio was joined by the OIC Regional Manager of Region V, Mr. Frankie M. Armeña, the CODs and the Insurance Underwriters assigned in the area where the venues are located.
The officials of Ligao City who attended the activity were City Mayor Patricia G. Alsua, MAFC Chairman Evangeline M. Seming, City Agriculturist Noel M. Cerillo, and several DA Technicians. In Casiguran, Sorsogon, the LGU officials who graced the occassion were Mr. Angel Ayala, Municipal Administrator and representative of Mayor Edwin B. Hamor, Benigno A. Bejison, Municipal Agriculture Officer (MAO) and DA Technicians.
