PCIC awards indemnity checks to Occidental Mindoro fisherfolk

Agriculture Secretary Dr. William Dar led the awarding of indemnity checks from the PCIC to fisherfolk from Occidental Mindoro. The beneficiaries received indemnity after their boats were damaged by typhoon Tisoy.

The awarding was part of the Pulong-Pulong Farmer and Fisherfolks Forum held at San Jose, Occidental Mindoro on January 21, 2020.

“With this event, we reiterate our commitment to farmers and fishers, that PCIC will be there to help beneficiaries, especially after calamities,” PCIC Regional Office 4 officer in charge Marissa Agudera said.

Secretary Dar was assisted by Occidental Mindoro Rep.
Josephine Ramirez-Sato and Ms. Agudera during the awarding. In his speech, Sec. Dar promised that the Agriculture department will provide more financial assistance and projects to the province of Occidental Mindoro in the coming months.

Apart from the indemnity checks, Secretary Dar also distributed fingerlings, seaweed planting materials, fishing boats and financial assistance from the Agricultural Credit Policy Council.
