PCIC awards ₱6-M to Sultan Kudarat farmers
The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation awarded early March a total of ₱6.43 Million to Sultan Kudarat farmers. The farmers suffered losses after their farms were ravaged by pests and drought.
A total of 1,296 farmers from the municipalities of Lebak, Kalamansig and Palimbang received indemnity checks from PCIC at the Lebak Municipal Gym.
“The PCIC is pleased that we can help farmer-beneficiaries recover losses from natural calamities,” PCIC Region 12 Manager Elias Catuionhg said.”We encourage them to tell their fellow farmers of our programs so we can help more farmers. We need to help them ease the ill-effects of climate change.”
In response, the farmers expressed gratitude for PCIC’s assistance.
“Nalipaygid ako kay first time komakadawat bulighalin sa gobyerno. Pasalamat gid ako sa PCIC kag kung ano man ang madawat naton halin sa PCIC, gamiton naton para sa aton pangumakag sa aton pamilya.” Tony Aba, an IP farmer from Lebak and a first time beneficiary said, as he thanked the PCIC for the indemnity check he received.
The awarding ceremony was attended by Board Member Rene de Manuel, chairperson of the Committee of Agriculture and other provincial and municipal government officials
