The Navotas City government will assist qualified local fishers in filing for free insurance coverage for their fishing boats with the PCIC.
“We understand the value of securing the investment of our fishers, and we are committed to help our constituents insure their fishing boats,” acting Navotas City Agriculturist Cheney Ville Gabriel said during the orientation for fishing boat insurance, held on June 25, 2025 at the Navotas City Hall.
When a local fishing boat gets registered at the City Agriculture Office, they will get a BoatR certificate.
Under the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) Agricultural Insurance program, boat owners who possess a BoatR certificate issued by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) are eligible to apply for free boat insurance coverage.
After getting the certificate, the fisherfolk gets assisted by the Navotas City Agriculture Office in filling out their application forms for the free fishing boat insurance and submitting the same to PCIC.
Navotas agriculture officials and staff attended the fishing boat seminar to properly assist qualified fisherfolk avail themselves of the free fishing boat insurance. RO 4 Marketing and Sales Chief Emmylou Pascual, Insurance Underwriter Ferdinand Evasco, Insurance Processor Jecelyn Caseñas informed agriculture city officials of the requirements, benefits, and procedures for enrolling in the fishing boat insurance of the PCIC.
