A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed between the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) and the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) on 25 August 2011, just before the Monthly Meeting of the PCIC Board of Directors, at the PCIC Head Office in Quezon City.
An agency under the Department of Agriculture (DA) that was established under Executive Order No. 116, the ATI is responsible for training the members of rural-based organizations, agricultural extension workers and their clientele to promote and accelerate rural development. The said agency also conducts research in which the results are communicated to the farmers through appropriate training and extension service towards the attainment of the Food Self-Sufficiency Program of the Philippine Government.
Under the said agreement, the PCIC will provide accident and dismemberment insurance coverage to all the members of rural-based organizations and other institutions being trained by the ATI in their extension delivery system for agriculture and fisheries.
