DAILY STAR: BusinessLocal farmers are the prime beneficiaries of the Philippine Crop Insurance Corp. that provides insurance protection against losses from plant diseases, natural calamities, pest infestations of palay, corn, and other crops, Charlie Brillet, PCIC acting regional director said yesterday. PCIC also provides accident insurance, life insurance, loan repayment protection plan, and fishery insurance, Brillet said. In its repayment protection plan, PCIC will pay the loan of the farmer to the issuing cooperative in case of accident or death, Brillet said. This means that farmers are assured that the corporation will assist them in making payment, he added.
