Farmers urged to insure cropsTHE regional office of the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) will embark on a massive education and information campaign this year to encourage more farmers to insure their crops. Cresencio Deligero, PCIC regional manager, said that there is a low number of farmers who have enlisted with their office despite farms implementing the program. Have something to report? Tell us in text, photos or videos. The PCIC records revealed only 4,787 of more than 10,000 farmers in Eastern Visayas are under the PCIC list. Tacloban City agriculturist Alfredo Composano said that while his office has conducted an information campaign last year on the program, none of the 303 farmers in the city enlisted with the PCIC.
