Cebu Farmers Receive Indemnity Checks from PCIC

PCIC recently distributed indemnity checks to farmers in Cebu, as PCIC officials conducted a two-day field visit in different parts of the province.

A total of 286 corn farmers in Bantayan received ₱2.308 Million worth of indemnity checks from PCIC Regional Manager Cresencio Deligero, Senior Vice President Norman Cajucom, Board Member Arnold Colama and PCIC Acting Insurance Underwriter Christopher Jason Fernandez.

“PCIC wants farmers to recoup losses quickly, so we have to deliver these checks immediately,” Mr. Deligerio said. “It’s also an opportunity to listen to their concerns, and make the Corporation’s services more efficient.”

In addition, the officials visited Mr. Jose Miranda’s sugarcane and banana plantations, the Sugbuanon Rural Bank in Bantayan Cebu, Cebu People’s Multipurpose Cooperative, the First Consolidated Cooperative, and the Bantayan and Dalaguete PCIC Service Desks.

“Cooperatives and rural banks are among our most important partners in delivering crop insurance to our farmers and fisherfolk,” Senior Vice President Cajucom said. “PCIC wants to keep strong ties with these partners to continue our coordination and cooperation.”
