Capitol insures livelihood of 50,000 farmersTHE agro-fishery business of over 50,000 farmers and fisherfolk in the Province will have insurance coverage from calamities such as typhoons, floods, drought, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, diseases and pests infestations. Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia said she thought of giving assistance to the farmers because they are the first to be affected by natural calamities and the last to recover. Have something to report? Tell us in text, photos or videos. The insurance coverage is part of Capitol’s Integrated Farming Systems Development Program (IFSDP) that was launched yesterday. The program is a replacement of the corn-based Farmer-Scientists Training Program, which former Capitol consultant Romulo Davide said was used by Garcia for politics.
