PCIC urged local officials to help the agency train farmers and other stakeholders to adhere to existing agricultural insurance program guidelines, noting that what starts right is bound to end right.
This advice was voiced out by PCIC Regional Office 7 (RO 7) Marketing and Sales Officer-in-Charge Maria Carisa Adriatico in a town hall meeting between PCIC officers, on the one hand, and local executives of Negros Oriental and Siquijor, on the other.
“The guidelines are not to make matters hard for our common clients but a safety net for everyone,” Adriatico said in the meeting held on March 21, 2024 in Siquijor.
One such requirement is the need for farmers and fishers to submit any form of identification as they apply for agriculture insurance. Adriatico explained that presenting the ID is required before the PCIC can send indemnity through a remittance partner, such as MLhuiller.
RO 7 Manager Paulita Secuya underscored the importance of PCIC partnerships with local executives, as these boost the number of farmers availing themselves of agricultural insurance.
Secuya also pushed for greater availment of Accident and Disbursement Security Scheme (ADSS) for protection against the loss of life and limbs of the farmers and fisherfolk.
In response, Bindoy municipal Mayor Eniego Jabagat thanked PCIC and commended the agency for the release of some ₱15 Million indemnity for 1,803 beneficiaries in his municipality.
Siquijor Mayor Richard Quezon and Siquijor Agriculture Technician Juvelyn Agan attended the town hall meeting.
