The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC), an attached agency under the Department of Agriculture, has just commemorated its 30th year Foundation Anniversary under the theme “Tungo Sa Mas Matatatag, Mas Malawak At Mas Magaling Na Crop Insurance.” The Pearl Anniversary of PCIC was held in San Juan, Metro Manila, last 19 May 2011.
Present during the celebration were the officers and staff of PCIC from all over the country led by its President, Atty. Jovy C. Bernabe, and all its Board of Directors led by Department of Agriculture Undersecretary For Special Concerns Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.
The Senate Committee Chairman on Agriculture, Sen. Francis N. Pangilinan, and Department of Agriculture Secretary Proceso J. Alcala (represented by Undersecretary Antonio Fleta) delivered the keynote messages.
During the same occasion, the PCIC was also formally conferred with the ISO 9001:2008 (Quality Management System) by TUV Rheinland which is a Germany-based ISO certifying body with Certificate Registr. No. 01 100 1 17448 dated 16 May 2011. The scope of the ISO certification is the provision for agricultural insurance protection covering crop, non-crop, livestock and term insurance.
With the conferment of the ISO-certification, the customers of PCIC – who are the country’s agricultural and fisheries producers – will now be assured with much better and consistent quality management and professional delivery of its services from its head office and in all of its regional offices throughout the country.
To cap the celebration, all of the pioneers of PCIC that served the organization since its founding in 1981 totalling twenty-seven (27) officers and staff were honored. Likewise, the PCIC recognized the support of outstanding partners and linkages in delivering agricultural insurance protection to our agricultural and fisheries producers in the countryside.
