Farmers and fishers in Agusan del Norte will have greater access to agricultural extension services.
This, after the Department of Agriculture launched the province-led Agriculture and Fisheries Extension System (PAFES) on July 19, 2021, with Agusan del Norte as the pilot province. The launch comes after the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the DA and the Agusan del Norte provincial government.
PAFES aims to institutionalize extension services and bring them to the grassroots level, through the efforts of the Department of Agriculture and local government executives.
With PAFES, the province serves as an extension hub that synchronizes agricultural plans and programs and coordinate the activities of various stakeholders. The DA, in turn, will co-plan, co-invest, co-implement, and co-monitor priority projects.
“The PCIC fully supports the establishment of the PAFES here in Agusan del Norte,” PCIC Regional Office 10 Manager Charlito Brilleta said. ”With this, we look to encourage more farmers and fisherfolk to avail of PCIC’s insurance products.”
The MOA was signed by DA CARAGA Regional Director James Monteagudo and Agusan del Norte Governor Dale Corvera, other local government and local agriculture officials
