PCIC Wants More Farmers to Avail of Free Insurance
The PCIC wants more farmers to avail of free insurance as the agency assures it has sufficient funds for its free insurance products. This was the message given emphasis during the distribution of indemnity checks amounting to ₱439,000 to 65 farmers on January 24, 2019 in Naic, Cavite.
In his speech, PCIC President Jovy Bernabe revealed that the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas as mandated by the Agri-Agra Law, has released P1.5 Billion to PCIC last year. This would mean that aside from the RSBSA, all other free insurance programs, particularly for the non-RSBSA listed farmers of DA and DAR would continue in the future. He also encouraged the local government to enter into a partnership with PCIC so as to give farmers easy access to all PCIC programs.
Mr. Bernabe was with PCIC Senior Vice President Norman Cajucom and Regional Manager Evelyn Virtudez. Also, in attendance were Naic Mayor Julio Dualan, Sangguniang Bayan Chairman for Agriculture Maximo Dagasdas and Municipal Agriculturist Leonila Flores.
“We are encouraged to further intensify our marketing activities that aside from opening a PCIC service desk, we also increased the number of field personnel servicing this area,” Ms. Virtudez said.
Ms. Virtude also thanked the farmers and the Office of Municipal Agriculturist for their continued support of the PCIC and its programs.
