PCIC RO XII, headed by Regional Manager Elias S. Catulong, joined the DA Ulat sa Bayan on April 10, 2015 at Pikit Elementary School, Pikit, Cotabato and Aleosan Covered Court, Aleosan, Cotabato.

With DA Secretary Proceso Alcala as the guest-of-honor, the activity was conducted to foster transparency by reporting the accomplishments of the Department of Agriculture XII to farmers and local leaders, and to strengthen partnerships between line agencies and distribute various projects to individual farmers and farmer groups.

Together with Sec. Alcala, DA XII Regional Executive Director Amalia Jayag-Datukan, Congressman Jesus Sacdalan, and Provincial Agriculturist Eliseo Mangliwan, RM Catulong awarded the indemnity checks to farmers from the different municipalities of North Cotabato, who were insured with PCIC under the DA Sikat-Saka and DA WARA Program.

A total of Php540,638.00 worth of indemnity checks were distributed during the said activity: Php206,874.00 were awarded to individual farmers while Php333,764.00 was given to LBP-Kidapawan for the account of Lower Malamote – New Pandan Irrigators’ Association.

“I am grateful that my crop had been insured with PCIC. Thank you very much! Without PCIC, I may have not been able to get investments back after the loss” says farmer Adela Alegata upon her short conversation with PCIC staff right after receiving the indemnity check from PCIC.

PCIC and DA-XII had been partners in providing insurance services to farmers, through the DA-WARA and DA-Sikat Saka Programs.  LGUs also serve as underwriters in the implementation of the DBM’s Priority Provinces Program, in partnership with PCIC.
