The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation Regional Office II conducted an Orientation Seminar on PCIC Agricultural Insurance Programs for Local Government Units of Eastern Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) in Tuguegarao City on January 14, 2014.  The seminar was attended by 39 designated Insurance Coordinators from various municipalities of the Provinces of Ifugao, Kalinga and Apayao and staff from the Department of Agriculture – CAR Regional Field Unit (CARFU), Baguio City. The three (3) CAR provinces are among the 20 priority poor provinces of the government.

The orientation seminar was a collaboration between the PCIC RO II and the DA-CARFU to improve the implementation of the DA-Rice Crop Insurance Support Program in the Eastern CAR and the agricultural programs of PCIC as well. The PCIC RO II Training Team was headed by PCIC Regional Manager Edna S.P. Marallag and Chief Marketing and Sales Rodelia A. Pagaddu. The participants were briefed on the Underwriting and Claims Guidelines, and Systems and Procedures of the different insurance programs of PCIC.

The event served as a soft launching of the Government Subsidized Agricultural Insurance Program in the three (3)  priority provinces of Eastern CAR.
