In a continuing campaign to assist farmers who suffered damage from natural calamities and pests and diseases, the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) recently paid seven farmers cooperatives in Nueva Ecija some P8.51 Million in indemnity payments in simple ceremonies held on January 25, 2012 at Pampanga.

The seven cooperatives were: Balite Primary Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Malabon Kaingin Primary Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Pakul Primary Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Barangay Aquino Development Cooperative, Bagumbayan Primary Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Farmer’s Business Resource Cooperative, and San Mariano Primary Multi-Purpose Cooperative.

The awarding ceremony was attended by Department of Agriculture Undersecretary Berna Romulo-Puyat, who is also a member of the PCIC Board. In her remarks, Usec. Puyat discussed the various DA programs and stressed the importance of crop insurance.

She was joined in the program by PCIC officials, namely: President Jovy Bernabe, Dir. Nestor Custodio, Dir. David Villanueva, Dir. Dioscoro Granada, Dir. Fidel Cu, Acting Senior Vice President Norman R. Cajucom, Acting Vice President for Support Services Group Segundo Guerrero, Jr., Regional Office (RO) I OIC Romulo San Gabriel, RO 3 Regional Manager Romeo Gonzales, RO 3A OIC Melba Manalo and Acting Finance Department Manager Nomer Viray.
