The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation Regional Office 12 (PCIC RO 12) recently conducted an orientation on livestock insurance among coconut farmers in Barangay Cebuano in Tupi town in South Cotabato.
The participants were the recipients of the carabao dispersal program under the Coconut Carabao Enterprise Development Project (CCEDP) of the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) Region 12 and the Philippine Carabao Center.
Carabao Center Director Benjamin Basilio and PCA program coordinator Jenycar Gallego led the release of the carabaos to the farmers.
“We fully support the CCEDP and appreciate that it gives coconut farmers another source of livelihood with the carabaos awarded,“ PCIC RO 12 Manager Marissa Agudera said. “The PCIC wants to have their carabaos insured and protected.”
RO 12 Marketing Services chief Gracia Salloman and insurance underwriter Ligaya Vistavilla conducted the orientation.
The beneficiaries were thankful that their new carabaos can be covered under the insurance program.
