PCIC Opens Two Extension Offices in Bohol
Farmers from Bohol can now have better access to crop insurance. This, after the PCIC opened two extension offices in Bohol last March 19 and 20. The offices are located in the municipality of Ubay and in Tagbilaran City.
“The PCIC is happy that we have opened two extension offices in the province of Bohol,” PCIC Vice President for Corporate Business Affairs Group Antonio Uy II said. “We want to do more for our farmers here, considering the potential of Bohol as the next dairy capital and seafoods center of the country.”
The Ubay extension office is located at Gaviola Compound, Ubay, Bohol. The extension office in Tagbilaran City, on the other hand, is at the 2nd floor, BOPE Bldg., F. Rocha corner Sikatuna Street, Tagbilaran City. Farmers and fisherfolk can contact the Tagbilaran extension office through telephone number (038) 411 2751.
Present in the inauguration of the Ubay extension office were officers of cooperatives, representatives from local government units, Landbank, and various partner lending institutions.
Also present were Special Assistant to the Governor, Mr. Isabelo Tongco, PCIC Vice President for the Corporate Business Affairs Group Antonio Uy II, Bohol Provincial Agriculture and Fisheries Council Chairperson Lucia Colaste, and representatives from partner agencies.
The Freeman previously reported that agriculture department is eyeing Ubay to be the next dairy capital, with the planned establishment of possibly the biggest dairy project of the government. Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol said the proposed project will involve an initial 5,000 heads of Girolando dairy cows coming from Brazil. The project plans to use the Ubay Stock Farm.
