The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation Regional Office 4 (PCIC RO 4) released indemnity checks amounting to ₱480,603 to 68 insured farmers in Sta Maria, Laguna. This comes after their crops and livestock were affected by natural calamities, pests, and diseases.

The ceremony was held at the Municipal Plaza on last July 19, 2021. Sta. Maria Mayor Cindy Carolino and PCIC RO 4 Marketing and Sales Chief Emmylou Pascual led the distribution.

“We will ensure that our farmers will benefit from the programs of PCIC,” Mayor Carolio said.

In response, RO 4 officer-in-charge Ric Gregorio underscored the importance of LGUs in making agricultural insurance accessible and encouraging farmers to avail of the same.

“We consider local governments as important partners in our objective of increasing the number of insured farmers and fisherfolk,” Gregorio said. ”We want more farmers and fisherfolk to appreciate the value of crop insurance – a means to recover their investments in case natural calamities strike.”
