PCIC AIMS TO REACH MORE FARMERS AND FISHERFOLK AFTER EMPLOYEES RE-ORIENTATION

CEBU CITY – More farmers being informed with the available crop insurance programs.

This was the thrust of a re-orientation on agricultural insurance conducted here last March 2018 by the PCIC Regional Office 7.

“We wanted our employees to have a better appreciation of the diverse products the PCIC now offers,” PCIC Vice President for Corporate Business Affairs Group Antonio S. Uy II said. “” Revisiting the company’s product lines gives us an opportunity to look into the procedure that goes into each one, challenging us to look for ways to make agricultural insurance more affordable and accessible.”

Sixty-two agricultural stakeholders (cooperatives, lending institutions, local government officials and private institutions) also participated in the activity.

Besides crop insurance, among the topics discussed were the insurance for fisheries and aquaculture products, for high value cops, and the credit and life term insurance being offered by the PCIC.

Participants were also given the chance to ask questions and raise concerns during the open forum. They also expressed their commitment to share their knowledge on PCIC programs. This is needed so that more farmers and fisherfolk can avail of the Corporation’s insurance products, most especially the free insurance being given to subsistence farmers and fisherfolk.
