
The Provincial Government of Negros Occidental has insured with the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) a total of 5,000 rice, corn and high-value crop farmers in the province for their crops during the second semester.
Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson (third from right), on August 11, 2023, handed over to PCIC President Atty. Jovy Bernabe (third from left) a check worth ₱5 Million representing the provincial local government unit’s (PLGU) counterpart subsidy for the farmers’ premium requirement.
Under this insurance partnership dubbed the Negros First Universal Crop Insurance Program (NFUCIP), the Negros PLGU and the PCIC jointly provide the full premium subsidy for the free insurance coverage of the farmers.
The handover of the check was done at the Provincial Governor’s Office. Witnesses to
the event included (from left) PCIC Regional Office 6 (RO 6) Marketing and Sales Chief
Jose Ma. B. Torres Jr., Negros Occidental Supervising Agriculturist Dr. Dina Genzola,
RO 6 Manager Eva Ulie Laud, and PCIC Executive Assistant Gus Alunan.
