A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed between the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) and the National Dairy Authority (NDA) on 28 June 2011 at the Main Office of the Department of Agriculture (DA) in Quezon City.
Under the said agreement, the PCIC will provide livestock, agricultural asset and other related insurance services to the NDA in support of the latter’s mandate to accelerate the development of the Philippine dairy industry. Among those targeted for livestock insurance are the Dairy Multiplier Farms of the NDA which serves as an area for propagation of dairy animals through crossbreeding and upgrading. Other NDA programs, such as those that ensure and accelerate dairy herd build-up and milk production, projects and assets will also be considered for protection under the PCIC insurance facility.
Present during the MOA signing were Miss Bernadette Romulo-Puyat (DA Undersecretary for Special Concerns), Atty. Jovy C. Bernabe (PCIC President), Miss Grace J. Cenas (NDA Administrator) and Mr. Antonio s. Uy, II, CESO V (PCIC Acting Vice-President For Corporate Business Affairs Group).
