FREE AGRICULTURAL INSURANCE TO CONTINUE
An official of PCIC Region 12 assured farmers from Sultan Kudarat will continue to receive free crop insurance under the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) program.
“We thank you, our farmer-beneficiaries in Region 12, for continuing to patronize PCIC’s insurance products,” Noel Mate, Officer-In-Charge of PCIC Region 12’s Marketing and Sales Division, said. “At the same time, we assure you that the PCIC will continue providing subsistence farmers and fisherfolk with free agricultural insurance.”
Mr. Mate made this announcement during the PCIC Regional Office’s distribution of indemnity checks held at the Office of Municipal Agriculturist of the municipality of Bagumbayan in Sultan Kudarat in February. A total of 217 farmers from the municipalities of Bagumbayan and Senator Ninoy Aquino in Sultan Kudarat were given checks, which had a total value of ₱1.643Million.
Agricultural insurance has been free since 2014, through the implementation of the government’s Agricultural Insurance Program for subsistence farmers and fisherfolk listed in the RSBSA.
Under the 2018 General Appropriations Act, government appropriated Government Premium Subsidy (GPS) to PCIC. This GPS is for the full (100%) cost of insurance premiums of subsistence farmers and fisherfolk registered in the RSBSA for crops (rice, corn, high-value crops), livestock, fisheries/aquaculture and non-crop agricultural assets.
