Farmers to be paid by PCICRICE and corn farmers whose crops were damaged by Typhoon Juaning last week will soon get damage claims from the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC).In a report to Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala, PCIC President Jovy Bernabe said the firm will pay the damage claims faster than the usual 20-day claim settlement response time. The shorter payment period will allow rice and corn farmers to recover their losses and pay for immediate replanting. Bernabe added that some 18,443 hectares of farmlands covered by PCIC’s insurance program were damaged by “Juaning.”
