Farmers Hit by Drought, Pest and Diseases in Aurora Receive Indemnity Checks
PCIC Region 3A Manager Melba Manalo awarded a total of ₱503,483 worth of indemnity checks to 119 farmers from Casiguran, Aurora.
“We are happy that PCIC was given the chance to distribute these checks during the municipality’s celebration of Araw ng Agrikultura,” Ms. Manalo said, “The PCIC is always ready to help the farmers so they can recover investments quickly and plant again.”
It can be recalled that drought and pest and diseases affected Casiguran, Aurora. This resulted in damage to agriculture covering a total of 73.3 hectares affecting 1,018 farmers.
“Nagpapasalamat kami sa agarang aksyon ng PCIC. Ngayon, makakapagtanim na ulit kami, kahit pa malaking bahagi ng probinsya ay nasalanta ng bagyo,” said Mr. Tony Cornelio, a rice farmer who received a check worth ₱9,312.
The DA-LGU at Casiguran, which organized the celebration of Araw ng Agrikultura, underscored the role of crop insurance in ensuring a stable food supply and sure income for farmers.
“We invited PCIC to this occasion because we want farmers and other stakeholders to appreciate the importance of crop insurance,” Municipal Agriculturist Helideliza Vicente said. “PCIC has constantly sought ways to serve more farmers and make crop insurance more accessible.”
