Drought-affected farmers in Cagayan Valley receive ₱1.8M
PCIC Regional Office 2 distributed ₱1.8 Million worth of indemnity checks to around 429 farmers, whose crops were affected by drought.
Figures from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council showed that more than 1,100 hectares of farmlands in Region 2 were affected by drought in August.
The distribution was done at the Regional Government Center in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan on October 11, 2019.
“With PCIC, investments of our farmers are protected from the ill-effects of drought,” PCIC SVP Antonio Uy said. “We reiterate our commitment to farmer-beneficiaries that we will deliver timely claims indemnity
SVP Uy, together with Regional Office 2 Division Chiefs Jean Bayani, Benito Taguibao and Florante Miguel, handed out the checks and the Development Bank of the Philippines prepaid cards to the farmer-beneficiaries.
Before the distribution, farmer beneficiaries were given a re-orientation on claims settlement to reinforce their knowledge on the procedure and regulations being implemented by the PCIC.
