Camarines Sur Farmers Receive Indemnity Checks From PCIC

Almost 2,000 farmers received indemnity checks from the PCIC Regional Office 5 from February 20 to 22, 2019.

The checks, amounting to ₱20.852 Million were given to farmers from the municipalities of Libmanan, Cabusao, Canaman, Calabanga, Bula and Buhi and from the cities of Naga and Iriga.

“We are happy that we’re able to help 1,956 farmers recover from various calamities including El Niño that hit their areas,” OIC-Regional Manager Frankie Armeña said. “With crop insurance, they have a fall back in case disasters affect their crops.”

Also present during the distribution were OIC of Claims Adjustment Division Felix Manlangit, and agricultural technicians from the local government units.

The farmer-beneficiaries expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the assistance they received. They hoped that the government will continue to support the farmers to mitigate the effects of climate change in the region.
